About
TAGARELA- This (in-person and online) course in Brazilian Portuguese teaches the language as it is actually spoken. The goals are reading and listening comprehension, along with a mastery of pronunciation, phonetics and writing. The differences between formal Portuguese and casual speech are addressed so that the student can become versatile in various contexts. This deals with the fundamental challenge of learning a language, knowing where and how to use colloquial and formal speech. Inaê Sodré has instructed people from all over the world how to speak Brazilian Portuguese for over 20 years. She has already taught at Aliança Francesa de Salvador, PROPEEP (UFBA), the University of Ancestrais Amorosos (Pelourinho), and at the Brazillink Institute (Barra), in both private and online classes. She is a writer and poet, has an undergraduate degree in the Portuguese and French Language from the UFBA-Universidade Federal de Bahia, and a Masters degree in Language Studies from the UNEB-Universidade do Estado da Bahia.
Methodology
The classes utilize a simple white board involving the direct participation of the student, or students, requiring them to repeat aloud the verbs and phrases built from their own experiences, practicing a method of memorization through the “production effect”. That is, the action of speaking and listening to yourself helping in the fixation of the words, or the text, in your long-term memory. Thus, the Vark Method is practiced at the same time, developed by New Zealand professor Neil Fleming, which proposes that learning occurs through five skills: auditory, visual, kinesthetic, reading/writing and multimodal and the Kolb Method, developed by American professor David Kolb, which suggests an experiential learning cycle based on the attitudes and feelings of the person at the moment they are learning. For this, a white board, appropriate books for each level, illustrative games, music, films, theatrical staging, texts (with various themes) for reading and text production, storytelling and conversation are used.

The class space is a cozy room, with a fan and air conditioning on the first floor of the Health Valley in Barra. The Health Valley is a space for health promotion through natural food, courses and events related to the knowledge and development of expression, located in a strategic point of Barra, very easy to access and less than 5 minutes from the beach. In addition to a restaurant and snack bar, the space has a market with an immense variety of natural products, Yoga room, Massage, Therapeutic meetings with lectures and live instrumental music.
