I’ve found one of the best things I’ve done to improve my knowledge of the Portuguese language is spending 2 hours every week speaking in Portuguese online with my friend and experienced Portuguese language instructor Inaê Sodre. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in languages, is an accomplished poet and children’s book author, and has also been the star of one-person shows that she has written and then performed in Salvador da Bahia at the Teatro Gamboa and elsewhere. This all means her Portuguese lessons will be interesting and filled with cultural and intellectual insight. She also has a good sense of humor and may break into singing a Samba or Bossa Nova classic if inspired. Her rates are extremely reasonable.

One of my biggest hopes in coming to Brazil was to learn Portuguese and Inaê has been the perfect teacher! Her lessons provide a strong foundation with formal grammar, but also offer an understanding of colloquial language and the nuances that you need for everyday interactions.
